amazing grace: jeff buckley
Last night, I went with my buddies to a screening of
Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley, at
Cinequest. This was one of those situations that as soon as my buddy saw it was going to be at the festival (this was the first West Coast showing), we planned to go. The day tickets became available, we got tickets. It was a spectacular 61 minutes. After the show, the conversation went something like this:
Me: [sniffling]
Pal: Do you have a cold?
Me: No, I have crying.
Pal: Oh [...] But you knew how it was going to turn out, didn't you?
Me: Yes.
I didn't know Jeff Buckley when he first came on the scene (92/93ish) and when he died (97) it was during my "i hate music and won't listen to it" phase, so I missed out on him then as well. A few years ago my pal told me to listen to him, and I did, and I was glad.
I don't listen to his stuff all that often, because it makes me so very sad. But I really do think that his CD,
Grace, would be my choice for "if you could only play one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?"
